Prof. Devi Sridhar Retweeted The Guardian

“Teachers are one of the most important components in getting schools back open. Trying to guilt trip or berate them is both unhelpful and unfair. Teachers...care about children and young people; just as parents do, they want their safety and wellbeing to be taken seriously.”https://twitter.com/guardian/status/1297938859578347521 …

I appreciate the sentiment in your tweet but please remember there are many other adult roles in schools and those roles are just as important to getting schools open.

Indeed. My brother told me before I started teaching that the janitor was more important than the ht.... in so many ways, he was right...

As a teacher, I appreciate your comments. However, as the situation continues to deteriorate in Scottish schools, as a previously shielding person, I do not feel safe.

Neither do I as a shielding parent. Again, we don't seem to have a part in any of the science - not enough of us to matter (tell that to my son when he brings home the virus that kills me).

(At least some) parents want honesty as well. Politicians being condescending saying "it's safe" is no help. They should explain their reasoning. Provide evidence and primary sources so those who want to can get stuck into the weeds and come to the same conclusions on our own.

Are visors alone any use to stop wearer getting virus, or do they make things worse?

I'm no expert, but it seems logical that eyes would be somewhat shielded, but without a face covering as well, a visor is probably neutral...unless you're a hairdresser, in which case, it could maximize direction of airflow down towards your customers
