I would add that my 12yo & pals refuse to meet up without masks, outdoors & distanced. They are not ready for full time school “as normal”.

yep...let's stop fretting too much and gain perspective on this issue. Far more damaging keeping children away from school. We all need confidence that there will be an efficient test/trace & swift interventions locally when needed.

They are outdoors. Schools will be indoors. It's crazy opening up schools in August. Especially secondaries with young adults. You know that cases in UK and Scotland are already rising. It's not safe to open schools as normal. Many other parents feel like this too.
