There’s a middle way between blind hope (virus will disappear) & cynical fatalism (repeated waves & lockdowns). We can shape the future of this pandemic. Our actions matter. And there is a path through the crisis. It starts with science & public health.

Look ahead to how you want your life & your country to look in 6-8 months, and then work backwards to what steps need to be taken now to get there. And if you're struggling with feeling down or poor mental health, take it day by day. It's not hopeless.

And yes, global eradication (get rid of every case in world) is unrealistic. But Zero COVID approach within national borders (stop community transmission, catch imported cases) is feasible. Fastest way back to normality & economic recovery. Cost is easy int’l movement of people.

So true. The passivity that's being preached to take it on the chin is applicable to the public message to weaken resistance to gov challenge or their agendas. Public health must surpass this messaging.

You are such a positive, intelligent voice during this time. So much sense coming from Scotland when England wallows in lies & deceit. Thank you.
