Increasing # of people buying COVID antibody test online & think b/c it shows positive result they are immune. Remember: 1. Most antibody test sold by private companies online are very unreliable & treat results with skepticism. 2. Antibodies does not necessarily mean immunity.https://twitter.com/nanogenomic/status/1275544031565500418 …

“An alarmingly short duration of protective immunity to coronaviruses was found. Reinfections occurred frequently at 12 months post-infection and there was for each virus a substantial reduction in antibody levels as soon as 6 months post-infection.” https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.05.11.20086439v2 …

Professor Jason Leitch @jasonleitch talked about this at yesterday’s briefing. Very clear explanation saying they are virtually a waste of money if you are looking for anything other than confirming you have had the virus

In parts of Italy it seems they are leveraging curiosity to rope those who get a positive result from the antibody test into a swab for Covid itself. If that proves positive, they trace contacts. It's a long shot, but might it capture some who are unaware they infectious?

Has the suspension on finger prick test been lifted then? Think the only antibody test you can get in England privately is Abbott (venous sample) via a few GPs

Thank you Devi for all the advice...Please keep it coming. I only wish our politicians had, first of all been better prepared for a pending pandemic, and secondly, listened to you and others, in January. #COVID19 #dodgyantibodytests

Two thoughts (not disagreeing) - a lot, lot of people “think they had it” in Jan/Feb, said they were sick w bad cold/flu b4 pandemic declared - maybe people hope they’ve had it/asymptomatic not for immunity forever, but just bridge next 6?+ months, get thru winter til a vaccine

She could definitely help but the problem is they won’t listen. The Doc has been invaluable here but tells the science, not what Cummings has scripted.
