Too much short-sightedness & focus on 2 weeks ahead instead of 6-8 months ahead. Same issue back in Jan 2020.

Only 3 endings to this story: immunity w/ vaccine, build-up of natural immunity or elimination w/ border control. If a vaccine isn’t available soon & immunity doesn’t last, then elimination is only path. Might take months for countries to realise this & after many deaths & cases.

Is there no chance this Virus adapts and becomes less lethal?

So far the mutations have gone the other way. They can track how the virus has reached a country, based on the mutations that have already occurred so it is constantly adapting.

Elimination is a good word and the only word in these circumstances

Did you see Devi's tweet yesterday, distinguishing between elimination and eradication? Yes, elimination is a good word and it needs explaining publicly to help guide better government policy.

Repeating the tailure to learn from real time experiences from other countries. in Feb/March italy was a live example of a likely scenario and now many US states show data with the implications of lifting restrictions without contact tracing in place.
