My job as an academic is not to tell people or govts or WHO what they want to hear but rather present the state of scientific knowledge, convey research findings from policy analysis in a clear way, & set out options so that leaders can make decisions.

And yes I do spend 1-2hrs/day doing media & social media (out of 12hr working day) but that’s bc communication is vital during emergencies. This crisis is affecting every person in every country of the world. Transparency & communication are essential.

I appreciate in you taking time to do this. It is good to have a professional and reliable source to learn from. I only wish the goverment would listen to you and understand how frustrating it must be for you for them not to listen. Thank you for what you do

absolutely and anyone complaining about that clearly doesn't know any academics and would be best keeping quiet and concealing their ignorance. I work with academics for a living and they don't stop!

Thank you for your work. Even if government and other officials don't pay attention, there are concerned individuals all over the globe looking for educated opinions so they can do whatever they can for their families.

The experts are what we need today in this moment of crisis but sadly they are hounded by governments and their agencies for speaking the facts and truth.
