Here's the clip on why we need to: Test, isolate, trace. Protect health workers with appropriate PPE. Keep physical distancing in place to prepare NHS & do research.https://twitter.com/Channel4News/status/1245067465983504393 …

Can we track and report two distinct numbers ? One specifically calling out : actives and mortality for health workers vs others ? -- by country by region by hospital system -- best practices can be rapidly copied elsewhere. Root causes can be quickly identified.

We need to prioritise mass testing. We don’t know what we’re up against without knowing where the virus is. We’re fighting the enemy blind. Germany are testing 70k a day. A DAY. Bloody hell. Test. Isolate. Repeat. Relax lockdown. Continue testing. Reduce lockdown further.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and view so consistently and widely. Infrastructure breaking down with so many workers staying home. I can see why lockdown cannot be sustained long term. Impact on so many areas of need/life

Live Edinburgh. Almost sure 3 of us had it January 12 after a trip to Iceland which was mobbed with Chinese tourists. Husband is essential worker so a test would put our minds at rest and I could volunteer. Frustrating.

A countrywide lockdown for a long duration is unsustainable. We need Green Zones and Red Zones. Red Zones with lots of infections will have lockdowns, Green Zones free movement but with masks and fast testing and tracing.

Just a shame one or two headlines are about 2 week old debate (& 2 weeks is a long time right now) on herd immunity .... my initial reaction was ‘what’s the point’ but now having read some of your tweets they are good & sensible .... just a shame about headlines ;-(

I would suggest tracing antibody titres with random surveys to see the protection level of community.

Truly excellent overview of the political & technological issues in 21st century contact tracing. Aimed at developers, but perfectly accessible to the lay public https://www.lightbluetouchpaper.org/2020/04/12/contact-tracing-in-the-real-world/ …

Interesting! A couple of points I’d add. (1) What about those who don’t have phones or can’t afford to keep them switched on? (2) Is it too late to do CT for COVID? (Preparing for the next disease is sensible, so experimenting now may well help, if issues raised are fixed.)
