Been saying 3 objectives for weeks. Not to attack anyone, but to highlight what we have learned so far: 1. Testing, tracing, isolating 2. Protect health workers with PPE & testing 3. Buy time for NHS We are moving but too slowly it seemshttps://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/mar/16/resume-covid-19-testing-protect-frontline-nhs-staff …

Japan is not doing 1 or 2 yet seems to be managing 3. Almost everyone is still working; we are going out a bit less and being generally watchful. Might even work.

The longer it takes to get a comprehensive testing regime in place, the longer the lockdown will last - if they are prioritising economy, it doesn't even make sense for them not to pursue testing at speed. Feels like they think the peak = "has run it's course" and have given up?

Or perhaps theres a mass antigen testing regime in the pipeline and they just haven't communicated it yet...

Ian Lipkin: “I think we should have, and still should have, a nationwide lockdown, with stratified social distancing, followed by extensive testing. And we should evaluate, on a weekly basis, whether in fact, you know, we’re having an impact.” http://bit.ly/2y81zGP  2/2

Isn’t the crucial bit about the timing of the test? If one has had the infection but stopped shedding virus the test will be negative- is that right? Are antibody tests checking the right antibody- if so, which test would be better to use to get max numbers working again?
