my strongest skill as a software eng is my willingness to interrupt an entire meeting to announce “I have no fucking idea what those words mean, please explain” there are *always* other folks who pipe up about being confused once someone else admits it first

no shame ! there is a lot of pressure to nod along. it takes a really safe environment to feel comfortable expressing lack of knowledge, even though everyone is benefited by the added clarity

This has got to be a consultant's super power. Rarely have domain our client expertise coming in so we just ask questions non stop. Usually a lot of latent, unasked questions.
