    They say America used to engage in civil politics of change. I’m searching in the index of US history and there’s no listing for civil politics. But there are many listings of the privileged telling the oppressed to suffer cheerfully and calling them uncivil when they don’t.

    I was skeptical until I verified these clippings at . In 1934, influential religious figures in US argued that Germans did not hate Jews but only supported Hitler out of economic anxiety, & that Jews would be fine if they'd just be civil to Nazis & show good will.

    Okay. I've found it. The absolute culmination of the "we have to build bridges with the far right" argument.

    We should of course treat with great seriousness the demands that protest be conducted in a peaceful, respectful, polite way, because everyone knows that protests like that are honored in American culture and only aggressive uncivil protest is demonized.

    Sitting here thinking that we have to dismantle the entire discursive apparatus of right wing politics since 1980. Racial dog whistles and coded speech, its language of equivalence, weaponization of liberal norms, the manufacture of outrage, etc. It’s not enough to condemn Trump.

    Read this. Watch what they are doing! Democrats on the Hill must fight on several fronts. And have a communications strategy to alert the public of the battles.

    Stop whatever you're doing and read the plan for complete reorganization of the entire federal government. I have tweeted some highlights, but honestly can't begin to capture the horror. Overall, it privatizes a lot, cuts, & consolidates power.

    Schools don’t teach about Native children being taken from their families & abused at boarding schools. If they did people would see the glaring, terrifying similarities between that & Fox News telling viewers that stolen immigrant kids are benefiting from ‘haircuts & schooling.’
