after 4 years of development, it's finally happening... it's hard to describe my hopes, relief and joy with the date finally being solidly out there, but I hope everyone will enjoy it and find something good in it!

I didn’t think it would be possible for such a blatantly racist idea to get funding, but no one limbos under the bar of my already-low expectations like the Bay Area tech startup scene.

A Bay Area start-up that uses AI to erase accents & make call-center workers, & others, sound "whiter" raised a $23 million round earlier this summer. sfgate.com/news/article/s

it's finally here! big love to for being the driving force to make this happen and their tireless hard work (and motivating me to get off my ass to finish my Python 2 tooling)

I sent off the PR for the skeleton driver for Python 2 in MAME. This wouldn't have been possible without the help of Taro and Shiz. This does NOT mean that Python 2 games are playable in MAME but it can now be documented and preserved thanks to MAME. github.com/mamedev/mame/p

... Nintendo PLEASE. Hardware manufactured in 2010-2011, still vulnerable to the same exploit you fixed in 2008 in software and in 2009 in hardware already? guess who's gonna be flashing a custom BootMii to their RVA next week 😅

working on dumping this system, and realised I didn't have a TSOP48 adapter or breakout... but with some help from the great folks at , that turned out to not be a problem per se :)
a TQFP32 breakout board, cut in half vertically with the two halves spread apart to make it wider, and mounted with glue on a small piece of wood for strength, making up a very janky home-made TSOP48 breakout

the big I/O box this RVA-001 was mounted in is quite the behemoth, holding multiple PCB trays with some pretty spaghetti wiring -- Capcom sure seems to love their 8P6C and RCA shout-outs to the regular Wii power supply mounted at the bottom there 👀
the big metal, industrial-looking, box the RVA-001 Wii was mounted in, with all four PCB trays still, partially covered by small metal plates. visible sticking out from the front are five RCA L/R plug pairs and no less than three 8P6C cables!
all four PCB trays taken out and laid flat on a desk. clockwise starting to the left is: the main power tray containing separate 5V and 3.3V(?) PSU boards; the secondary power tray containing a 12V PSU board, some switching logic, and a bare Japanese wall socket for the Wii power brick; the secondary I/O tray containing a small I/O board and a relay board; and finally the primary I/O tray containing the main I/O board with a bunch of connectors and some FPGAs.
the big metal box, now empty, after all trays have been taken out. shout outs to the regular Wii power brick mounted at the bottom!

got something interesting in the mail: a custom arcade Wii manufactured by Nintendo seemingly exclusively for Capcom, the RVA-001! the only known game released for it so far is Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, but this system seems to contain something else? 👀
a big, tall and deep, chunky industrial-looking metal box with a plethora of odd connectors on the front, as well as some 8P*C jacks, RCA red/white pairs, and a DE-9 cable sticking out. mounted at the bottom is a smaller metal box, the RVA-001 itself.
front view of the RVA-001, a smaller but still industrial-looking metal box. on the top is a sticker with the text "MP8(SF)", possibly a reference to some Mario Party 8-based it may contain? from left to right on the front are two test menu buttons, a bank of 6 DIP switches, an SD card slot, an LED, a small fan grill and finally on the far right a reset button.
back view of the RVA-001. from left to right, it sports the more familiar-looking Wii power connectors, two RCA plugs for audio, a DE-15 video port (likely JVS-compliant), two USB ports of which the rightmost one (USB1) is covered by white plastic, a JST BS10P-SHF-1AA (NH) connector labeled "SERIAL (1) (2)", and finally a JST BS4P-SHF-1AA (NH) connector labeled "EXT-PWR".
the RVA-001 box with the top lid off, revealing its main board. markings confirm it was manufactured by Nintendo, labeled as "RVA-CPU-X2". it seems to contain a mix of standard Wii components (some below a heatsink) and some extras to deal with the arcade I/O, including a Xilinx Spartan 3 (XC3S200) FPGA. unlike the Tatsunoko vs. Capcom RVA-001, this one seems to have some headers left unsoldered...

I merged the changes for P2IO to work with PCSX2 Qt into the master branch of my fork. The builds are available from the nightly links as before on the wiki tab. The Qt build now allows you to use the game list for Python 2 games and it works on Linux and MacOS (with inputs!).

actually, the point of free software is agency of the individual user to use her computer as she wishes. this nonsense about 'pooled innovation' and 'cost-sharing' is just a capitalistic remix of software freedom, and while that's good for business, it's not why i do what i do.

Horrifying news today. If you're going to be taking action over this, keep it off of Twitter. Do not bring your phone to protests. Do not ever talk to cops. Don't say anything online that might get you in trouble with the FBI.

Knowing it was coming didn't make it any easier to hear what is happening now in the US, and I don't even fucking live there. I hope you find a way to fix this shit and make clear once and for all that women's rights (incl. abortion) are not to be taken away. Stay strong!
