First numbers we used at first grade at peimary school were the natural numbers: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10... Next we learnt all have successors, and all but 1 have predecessors. Then we learned the first decade is 1-10, second is 11-20 and so on.
Then, years later, we learnt English. And after few years of practicing English, I understood teen age is the age the name of the number ends in -teen, so: 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 Teen numbers aren’t a decade (they count 7 not 10), and no one misinterprets decade as teens

Later on, we learnt different music and art in general, even historical events that were created or happened in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s... Each of those number 10 years sharing a part of the name, like fifty, sixty, seventy... just like the teens do, yet...

Many people misinterpret these as the decade... When some one mentiones decade, without qualifying it, it signifies a calendar decade, from a calendar that uses natural numbers, thus: 1-10, 21-30, 1991-2000, 2001-2010, 2011-2020... And, there are people, who mix them up...

Even worse, people who know this dinstinction, but still chose to propagate the lexical (have same part of the name) over the semantical (natural numbers mathematics) meaning of the word “decade” out of spite because they didn’t like being corrected when they propagated confusion
