I'm concerned folks (like me) who are post-defense & on the market this year are going to fall through the cracks. We're facing rescinded offers & failed or frozen searches. We can't get an extra year of funding because we aren't students. And, the market next year looks bleak.

I emailed the grad dean about exactly this and postdocs. MSU can figure out how to keep their people from being lost in the shuffle.

And contingents/adjuncts who are predefense and unfunded. I’ve been on the market for 10 months already.

I highly recommend (if you aren't already) following and utilizing resources provided by @BeyondProf and @FatimahPhD here, on their websites, on LinkedIn, as well as #AltAc twitter postings. They provide resources for PhD's searching for positions both in & out of academia.

Great idea! I have pivoted to start look at more #AltAc positions for sure.

Our hiring committee @UMNBBE (for my replacement) is actually charging ahead with webinar job talks. I sincerely hope others will do this, too.

I am really glad to hear that. I'm hearing a mix of things, but it's helpful to know some are at least continuing on.
