More often than not when I need to grab someone who works for me for a brief moment it is because *I need help*. I make sure to ask for help instead of saying “can I have a brief chat”

Even when outside of a leadership roll I learned early on to ask “do you have a minute to chat about ..?” Even if I’m asking someone up the chain they may well start wondering what emergency I’ve just found.
