It's clear that @bella_alarie left a major impact on the @IvyLeague women's basketball scene. @jennhatfield1 gathered the reaction from @PrincetonWBB and from around the league to Alarie's retirement: thenexthoops.com/ncaaw/mid-majo

I'm sure we can all agree that the process by which T̶w̶i̶t̶t̶e̶r̶ Elon decides what is "good content" for bots will be rigorous, fair and err on the side of users.

If Twitter is going to charge for API access & says it wants to promote transparency, then it should make available the deletions of elected officials and candidates for elected office as a public service. Let's see how important transparency & accountability actually is.

Welcome to the new Twitter, where you have to pay to see what elected officials post and then delete.

Starting February 9, we will no longer support free access to the Twitter API, both v2 and v1.1. A paid basic tier will be available instead 🧵

NOW: HB 2916 in House Homeland. Let's review what this bill would do. 1) AG can designate any group a terrorist org 2) Membership in said org = jailable offense 3) Fentanyl = WMD 4) Delivery of drugs resulting in death = terrorist act 5) limit travel across state lines 🧵

The House Republican Caucus should force Santos to sit on the Science and Small Biz cmtes and to do actual work like attend every meeting and ask questions. I want his time occupied, tbh.

Bad news: You were just sentenced to prison in Massachusetts. Good news: You have internal organs and bone marrow to spare and a new bill would allow you to trade those for up to a year off your sentence! malegislature.gov/Bills/193/HD38

We were in class watching it, as many Xers were. And then the teachers turned off the TV and we moved on with our day while the kids didn’t know how to process what they just saw, which is also a pretty common Xer experience.

If you remember the Challenger tragedy, today 1986, and are so inclined, please share how you got the news and how you and those close to you reacted.

A reminder that in most states it’s difficult or impossible to get records on police disciplinary actions, even for victims.

A big goal entering the game was disrupting the offensive preferences of Michigan's Emily Kiser, Laila Phelia and Leigha Brown. Terps mostly did that, which led to turnovers & weaker-than-usual shot selection.

What have done well is dictate the shots Michigan is likely to take. Not a lot of UM’s preferred offensive sets. Still think Terps are 7-8 points short of where they should be.
Only one reason to do this, and it ain't good governance.

This is just not true. Pelosi broke with recent practices but not precedent. Prior to 1903-1905, minority leaders didn't even have the right to nominate members to committee. And even then, the Speaker ignored those recommendations when they disagreed with them.

OPINION: Nancy Pelosi broke precedent for the Jan. 6 select committee, and now Democrats are stuck with it, @dhwinston writes. ow.ly/RZqb50MzZ1U

Would be interested in which WV state agencies haven’t been promoting coal.

“We think we [the coal industry] will continue to be a major part of the state's industrial job base and economy for many decades to come, but frankly we need a little help from our government,” said Chris Hamilton of @WV_coal1. mountainstatespotlight.org/2023/01/24/coa

This was a bit overlooked yesterday but two of Trump's appointees on the federal appeals court in D.C. suggested yesterday that congressional *committees* might not be protected by the Constitution's speech or debate clause, as opposed to individual lawmakers.

Would support a policy in which news orgs list the names and salaries of the heads of communications for any agency that does this.

Spokespeople increasingly don't want information attributed to them by name, either. They routinely ask to have their names omitted + instead attributed to unnamed "officials." At @BlockClubCHI, we believe the public has a right to know *who* is speaking for govts. + corps. twitter.com/DTOhl/status/1…
