You may recall that many Republicans said their tax cuts would "pay for themselves" through increased growth/revenues. In the first nine months, they are not -- by any measure.https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/15/us/politics/federal-deficit-2018-trump-tax-cuts.html …

But they believe Hillary was running a sex ring in a basement of a pizzeria that didn’t even have a basement.

They Don't really believe in that. That is just a ploy to get the base to go along with the cuts. Drive the debt through the roof, Dems take back control, they push the blame for out of control debt on Dems, Dems have little wiggle room, rinse, repeat.
-
I think, historically, you were right (that they know when they're lying.) But I think THAT GOP ended around the turn of the century. I think the Tea Baggers & the current crop of GOP actually believe their own tribal BS as they recycle it through Fox.

Some version of the Laffer Curve is real (e.g., at 100% tax rates, you will have zero or close to zero economic output), but it is hard to tell where you are on the curve at any time.
-
Yeah, but the curve itself is just the expression of an idea (or theory) from Laffer. Freehanded into a chart! It's not data-based and mapped out from empirical evidence. I mean, my hypothetical chart below, "The Chuckler Curve" could also be true.pic.twitter.com/B9QkIzBHv9

In the real world, at least here in American, it has worked no less than three times...Once each under JFK, Reagan and now Trump. Federal tax receipts grew in each instance...and all the screeching from economic illiterates liberals won't change that.
-
Um. How do you define "it has worked"? For example, under Trump. What do you think our deficit is doing right now?

Please explain how the Laffer Curve is wrong. I could use a good laugh this morning. And I’ll be impressed if you can coherently explain what the Laffer Curve even is.

Both of these things line their pockets with money and increases their power, so of course they "believe" in them or are "skeptical" as needed.
