This kinda reminds me of Starhopper’s matte tank walls made of many small pieces before they covered them up with a shiny outer layer. This would probably be way too heavy to be part of the finished design and just be there to validate basic tank shape & layout.

How you get that from this picture? I mean, all tanks are the same inherit shape, it's kinda a prerequisite of being a pressure vessel. Just because Blue Origin are going for second stage reuse, doesn't mean it's 'Operation Copy SpaceX'.
