So apparently your voice can be copyright claimed on YouTube. I was testing my mic filters on a private stream and after I was done it got claimed by CD Baby.

And on top of that, after 3 failed claims, you get a strike which can effect your ability to live stream and use other YouTube functions. The policy is backwards as hell.

AND THEN when you take the disputer to court, you have to often times fight a corporation who has infinitely more money and resources than you with the ability to take all of your money via lawyer fees by extending the court proceedings for years if they feel like it.

That's not YouTube's policy, that's the law. YouTube has to provide a fast, default takedown response to all claims or YouTube will be liable for copyright violations. YouTube generally cannot judge the validity of individual claims. Blame the DMCA.

It wasn't somethingh CD Baby initiated, though. It was auto-flagged by YouTubes content ID tool, apparently. Can't really blame them.

it is actually the US DMCA law that is trash... take downs should ONLY happen if both parties provide evidence of alleged ownership.
