By calling
@verizon and successfully changing my phone's SIM, the hacker bypassed two-factor verification which I have on all accounts. - View other replies

Today I learned that it is rather easy for someone to call the provider & change your SIM. The hacker got the account verification texts.

I'd realized that my phone had been hacked & separated from the actual phone number when the web only routed here:pic.twitter.com/zwYygVfbYy

The staff from
@twitter were incredibly helpful once alerted and helped to both delete some of the hacked tweets and give me back access. - View other replies

Verizon recorded the call made this morning by the imposter and we are working with lawyers to get the recording. It's been a long day.

No, I do not endorse Trump as the next President. He cannot be the President of the United States. He is racist & a bigot, unfit to lead.

The hacker got access by changing my SIM which redirected texts, then resetting my passwords to trigger two-factor authentication. Intense.

@deray We want to make sure your account is protected. We are her to help. Have we resolved or do you need additional assistance? ^RXT -
@deray u have an iphone right? -
@deray Sorry to hear that. Scary stuff. -
@deray meaning they removed the phone wipe after 10 guesses feature and brute forced your 4 digit pin? -
@deray damn homie -
-
.
@deray how did they get your passwords to get to the 2fa step? -
@sneakdotberlin@deray Password reset via SMS auth might be viable for some services, dunno about Twitter -
@CiPHPerCoder@sneakdotberlin I'm late to the party, but I read they got Verizon to reassign@deray's SIM card & did 2FA pw reset via that - View other replies

@misterich@CiPHPerCoder@deray which means the password is irrelevant and it's 1FA -
@sneakdotberlin not quite. once they pwned the phone, they had keys to the castle. 2FA goes to phone.@CiPHPerCoder@deray -
@misterich@CiPHPerCoder@deray yes, which means the password is unnecessary for auth, which makes it single factor authentication.

@deray that is awful and I hope things were locked down before any serious personal information was stolen. I am so sorry.
