Even during pandemic, too many city departments are overly focused on enforcing fines, fees & strict rules than helping small businesses & residents survive. We need to shift mandate, mindset & culture of city departments from erecting barriers & punishment to services & support.

The irony of getting parking tickets for street cleaning when people do/deal illegal drugs, expose themselves and take shits on public sidewalks. Oh & get let out of jail to kill innocent pedestrians too of course

Ummmmm...this is hella classist. Rich people with cars should not have to pay fines while poor people without access to a restroom should? I would the the inverse would be fairer.

Trust me when I say small businesses pay A LOTTTT in fees and taxes for the privilege to operate in SF. That does not make us “wealthy”. It feels like discrimination that laws and fines apply to tax paying, contributing members of society and not criminals.

I am a small business owner in SF and pay the same taxes. The origin of this thread was the opinion that breaking parking laws is less bad than pooping on the street. This has nothing to do business owners.

Small biz are shops on the streets people do drugs on, poop on and commit crimes on is actually what thread is about. Plus keep getting broken into and no one gets arrested but we get parking tickets for “street cleaning” when our sidewalks are covered in poop, drugs and crime.

Well I guess we’ve identified the misunderstanding. I believe parking tickets are given to people who break the law and small business owners do not

you’ve still got it wrong, parking tickets go to people who park illegally. But the point is-why should some people have to pay tickets when others don’t. It’s not legal to poop on the street, or to discard dirty needles...but this offenders don’t get tickets
