I’m 5 weeks into caffeine withdrawal, and I’m beginning to expect that I’m useless mid day not just because of tiredness, but because I’m getting low grade migraine symptoms making it hard to concentrate or focus.

I didn’t quit because of migraines but after I quit on Jan 1, I experienced vicious migraines intermittently for 3 weeks, usually in the late afternoon as my reward fighting through extreme drowsiness. I haven’t had one in about 8 days, so I hope I’m out of the woods...

I started having severe migraines - which coincided with viral meningitis. The residuals of which dissipated when I quit caffeine. Was it just getting better, or no caffeine?
When pregnant I limited to one morning cup which felt reasonable. Is one cup a day reasonable for you?Hvala. Twitter će to iskoristiti za poboljšanje vaše vremenske crte. PoništiPoništi

I do have to say I like not being caffeinated a lot. My heart rate isn’t as elevated, my skin is better and I don’t feel as restless. So it’s all been worth it from this side. Also, the herbs my acupuncturist gives me to drink are super bitter. Kinda like coffee but healthy!

Might want to explore here: https://www.reddit.com/r/decaf/ Symptoms can last for up to 2 years (anecdotal evidence), depending on how much you used to consume. The worst is over by month 2. Drink extra water, add extra salt and maybe take a ZMA at night.

One suspected cause of migraines is the dilation of blood vessels in the brain. This is why some migraine medicines include vasoconstrictors (e.g., Midrin). Caffeine is also a vasoconstrictor. So, yeah, quitting caffeine can definitely lead to an increase in migraines.
