And Okawa has a YT channel. This means war. Btw @YouTube @TeamYouTube you seriously going to allow this guy to continue on your platform? If you took me down for challenging Holocaust Deniers why does this Nanjing massacre denier get to stay on the platform?pic.twitter.com/aOlupcMPqm

Nanjing denial strikes me as the dumbest of all. Multiple third party journalists on scene, photos, etc. Tough body of evidence to ignore

The historical denial is obviously stupid, and the issue starts to become especially real when political battles are fought over this stuff. Nobody wins. The Japan-ROK situation is a perfect example.

Tbh without that political divide a lot of the English language literature probably wouldn’t exist.

What really started the English language literature or translation of Japanese authors books was Iris Chang’s 1997 the Rape of Nanking. Chang wouldn’t have written her book without the political atmosphere of the day.

Interesting I didn't know that. I was thinking about this dispute more in relation to the breakdown in relations between Japan and Korea and it's impact on the average person.https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/sep/29/we-have-to-get-along-japan-korean-residents-at-sharp-end-of-diplomatic-row …

Sames kinda true with the comfort woman - although on this matter I could be seriously wrong - is still related to Chang. She is the one who introduced Americans to it and it’s hard to imagine say having these two books get published without it.pic.twitter.com/oiMJXH4nNZ

Yes I see. I guess the issue becomes when this starts to affect the geopolitical situation. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/08/27/south-korea-pulled-out-military-intel-sharing-agreement-with-japan-thats-big-deal/ … But you're right, the comfort women issue needs to be addressed properly. I really don't want an Asian war...
