I’m studying for the Certified Kubernetes Administrator test. I need to setup a linux server somewhere. The images they provide are GCE nodes and require 2 CPUs and 7.5GB of RAM. Where is a cheap place to get a VM of that size?

This may be a dumb question. I have an i7 iMac With 40GB of RAM. Can I run a linux server VM on that and then connect to that with my MacBook? Are the server grade distros open-source or do they cost real

Because the course at the Linux Foundation provides a preconfigured GCE node. I assume it’s got Fedora or Red Hat Enterprise or something.
