Yeah, _clearly_ didn’t read the full statement by Carmack. He literally said Meta is best positioned to bring value with VR than any other company. That is not bridge burning. Carmack fixed a compatibility issue. That’s all, really.

Meta Quest Pro. I love it, but some seem to not like it.
That is because of a disconnect.
XR's future isn't about gaming only. It's about productivity, health, lifestyle. Like your TV, notebook, tablet or phone.
A big use case will be 2D gaming, using the headset as a screen.

I too love to cricize Facebook. But people, please, the first iPhone for example was criticized for not having 3G or copy-paste functionality. But can we at least _now_ agree that that criticism completely missed the point?

Btw, I feel that thinking recroom looks better than horizon worlds is a little reach. I can see Zucks avatar being soulless, but Recroom also doesn't have legs and VRChat performance on Quest is messy at best. Creating such a platform for real people on stand alone VR is hard.

Disclaimer: I believe in XR becoming the next gen of user interfaces, creating an immersive web. All within the next 5 to 10 yrs. I remember working on multitouch in 2006, expecting Apple to release something like it, with a lot of people telling me it won't ever take off...

I really should do a series (blogpost or video) on the many different interpretations of the word "metaverse", because to me it's -nothing- like second life 2.0 or place to buy and sell virtual assets. We should focus on real world, useful, helpful and awesome applications.
