Clearly, this is a high-profile arrest, especially one done in brazen broad daylight, to instill fear and helplessness in the Hong Kong protesters. The Hong Kong government is evil, corrupt, and must be stopped.

If anything though, it seems more likely to fuel public anger towards the government and police even more. Surely the government knows this, there isn't much logic in this arrest.

The government hopes that our fear of being arrested (and attacked) will eventually override our anger. They want things to escalate until we reach our breaking point & give up on the protests. Their actions feel illogical to us because they're so cruel beyond comprehension.

People are being arrested and beaten, and you don't understand what I mean? People are disappearing... Ugh. I live far away but I know people in Hong Kong. We don't dare discuss what's going on, because it's not safe!
