EU institutions should increase pressure on governments unwilling to comply with European court judgments. The institutions could make non-compliance more costly by using their full toolbox. They can increase financial and reputational pressure on states.

🇵🇱⚖️🇪🇺💶Here we go, Poland requests the Commission to cease collecting the 1m EUR/day penalty over disregarding a CJEU interim measure. Yesterday, the Polish government indicated that if this "nice" request doesn't work, they will sue the Commission before CJEU. 1/

On Thursday, Poland requested the CJEU to revoke interim measures, including 1 000 000 € daily penalty payment, ordered in Case C-204/21. The case concerns the disciplinary regime for judges and their power to examine unlawful judicial nominations. ⬇️
