To our peaceful protestors: We are sorry we had to deploy gas near the Lee Monument. Some RPD officers in that area were cut off by violent protestors. The gas was necessary to get them to safety.

These officers were cut off from who exactly? Looks more like one of those officers decided to fire upon peaceful protesters... curfew or no, they were not a danger to anyone before the gas was fired
