Never let your failure hold you back from your success. It's a learning process. We have failures so we learn how to proceed.

had not tested the bounds of the possible by going beyond them. And you can. If you don't know it's impossible, it's easier to do. And because nobody has done it before, they haven't made up rules to stop anyone doing that particular thing again." -Neil Gaiman

"When you start out you have no idea what you're doing. This is great. People who know what they're doing know the rules, and they know what is possible and what is impossible. You do not. And you should not. The rules on what is possible and impossible were made by people who...

This thread itself could grow into a startup: pitch your startup to PG or other brand-name investors, and either get validation/advice/exposure or a savage beatdown. Sort of like AngelList mixed with Shark Tank. Open equity crowdfunding for startups that "pass".

Kobe and I started a fund and I suggested we name it “Lowercase Mamba.” He replied, “Nah, Lowercase 13.” “Why 13?” “Can you believe they drafted 12 muthafuckas before me?” He had rings & MVPs, but he still obsessed over those early doubters. So, Lowercase 13 it is.

1/ there is this sense when you are young that your accomplishments need to be a list of things that seem impressive to others. A list of several items you did. This isn't actually right, so here is another suggestion.

To improve: brainstorm & capture every idea. Then organize, prioritize, discuss, debate and refine ranking. Then implement, test & repeat.

This is my favorite Kobe Bryant story. May we carry the torch of his hustle, passion, and incredible work ethic. Rest in peace, Kobe.

This vision of the future of work dictates that the next version of LinkedIn will not look like LinkedIn as we know it. It will not just be a collection of profiles of people working for companies in a distributed manner. The next professional network will be personal.

"My brain . . . it cannot process failure. It will not process failure. Because if I sit there and have to face myself and tell myself, ‘You’re a failure’ . . . I think that’s almost worse than death." -- Kobe Bryant, basketball legend, RIP

What does substack / patreon for communities look like? Who's building the pipes for all these membership based communities that are popping up?

Spot on. I think the and Community-as-a-Service will be a mega-trend over the next 10 years. With more automation in world economies by 2030, new individual economic producers will increasingly "work" by making digital creations that serve global consumers

If I started a modern YC, it would look like + + , but I would go all-in on being outside the valley and being much more flexible in terms of funding terms.

We also should decrease cultural friction to starting companies: - celebrate starting cos as a thing for ambitious ppl to do globally - see startup failures on resumes as badges of honor instead of blemishes - create communities to find co-founders & founder support()

1/ HOW TO ASK FOR HELP AS AN ENTREPRENEUR -- Every week entrepreneurs reach out to me cold on LinkedIn, Twitter, and email asking for help. I love helping if I can! Unfortunately most people are terrible at asking for help. Here is how to do it properly.

I always say, it takes a village to raise a startup. ’s Scarcity of Community theory makes sense because a) finding cofounders and co-conspirators is the last difficult startup barrier to entry and b) very few folks are thinking deep about community as a service

I've been working on a theory. I call it "community is the new scarcity", or "the unbundling of venture capital" Let's try this, hive-mind.
