These noncompetes prevent workers from finding new jobs. A Jimmy John's noncompete clause prohibited workers from working at any “submarine, hero-type, deli-style, pita, and/or wrapped or rolled sandwiches” within 2 miles of any Jimmy John’s.

US corporations force millions of low wage workers-like fast food workers, baristas, + janitors-to sign absurd noncompetes. The FTC estimates that banning noncompetes will increase worker pay by up to $300 billion per year, mostly for low wage workers.
