Check the tweet chain to make sure the offer is still valid, I'll tweet once I reach the cap. It will cost you around $15 to get the source code ($10 per check to HPE, and you probably want to send this by registered mail). I'm certain it costs them more than $15. Worth it.

Send me something that looks like a proof (censored check picture, stamped envelope, ...) and I'll add you to the FSFE donation bucket. Currently requested: ArubaOS MAS 7.4.0.4 source code. You might want to say what you requested to avoid duplicates.

Of course, please post the resulting source code to GitHub once you receive it! It's GPL licensed after all. If you send me the link I'll probably aggregate them all in one location for convenience.

(Notes on the $100 donation offer: - It's really 100 CHF, but close enough. - It's 50 CHF from my pocket and 50 CHF from my employer's donation matching fund. - I'll batch it all in one donation for convenience, so not individually attributed to you.)

Wat? Is what they're doing even legal? Don't they have to provide the source code for free for anyone owning their hardware?

The GPL allows them to charge a "reasonable cost" for providing you the source code on physical media. Don't ask me why that's an option in 2020. I suspect sending enough requests by physical mail to make them busy might make them change their mind.
