Providing programming language platforms to a large org & lots of users forced me to change how I think about and discuss PLs.
Programmers will say "X is hard", "I don't like Y", "A is good", or "I love it when B" about a PL.
* They cannot be wrong.
* You cannot argue.

Unfortunately with C++ I think you'll mostly have to change "what people read about it from Hacker News and Reddit". Which is a slightly different problem from PL design :-)

Not really. We don't get to work with PLs in a vacuum. We have to cope with the info people will actually find and use. So languages need to have a plan and system in place to influence the HN/Reddit views or correct for them in some systematic way.
