The whole macOS Catalina app notarization requirement is a complete joke. I've had to deal with macOS related stupidity for Dolphin's build infra for the past 8 years, but I think this might finally be the last straw.

The state of the art for integrating notarization into CI seems to be "oh just run that XCode tool in a loop until it says Apple has accepted your binary -- oh and btw its output is not designed to be machine-parseable lol".

"After uploading your app, the notarization process typically takes less than an hour. When the process completes, you receive an email indicating the outcome." Oh cool let me add an IMAP client into my Buildbot I guess!

Someone asked me for another example of macOS CI related stupidity. Let's start with the obvious one: I have to violate Apple's EULA to run my CI on macOS without hosting a physical Mac somewhere. No VMs! In 2019. Or the $100/y to be allowed the privilege to develop for macOS.

The wwdc 2019 video makes it sound like you can get the status using the uuid and also the log file is json, which might be easier to parse than the actual output? It's the last 10-15m of "everything about notarizarion"

I think the log file is on the server side, and the tool that gives you the URL to that log file is the one with no machine-parseable output. At least that's my current understanding of things.

Add " --output-format xml" to "xcrun altool" to get a machine readable response. I've been reading notarization-info/Status from that dictionary as my starting point. HTH.

I thought I had it hard when I had to run a mock Nginx RTMP server to test some video streaming client, but this is much worse...
