A french journalist somewhere decided to translate "crowdedness" as "fréquentation" aka. how many passenger use the transit line. This then propagated through multiple online publications, all talking about the Paris Metro 13 line being one of the top5 used in the world.

Yeah, the shitty methodology is another problem there -- and is probably the reason why you find so few asian lines in the worldwide top10.
