And it's buggy game (patch) code that happens to work by accident. This is the kind of stuff that doesn't fly on modern consoles any more. CPUs get upgraded without preserving identical microarchitectural semantics. Good riddance.

There are tons of things you would think don't really matter in newer emulators, but really it's just that emulators were too bad to realize it before. Dolphin even has a basic model trying to estimate execution units utilization to count cycles. Without it some FMVs run slow.
