In the 12 Iowa counties that have now fully reported results, turnout is down 11.5% from the 2016 caucuses. Most of these are small and rural, with one college county (Poweshiek/Grinnell College) in too.

Based on comparisons of entrance polls, it feels like decline was driven by middle age GenXers and Boomers -- with <40 up, and 65+ even. Is that what you're seeing? One theory, younger people had they guy, older ones had a guy to stop -- sandwich generation just not sure???

Sandwich generation is busy going to soccer games and shoveling sidewalks. They’ll come out and vote when they need to. My guess is they don’t care that much about WHO is running angst Trump.

As a GenXer it seems to me most of us have our opinions set in stone one way or the other and are just awaiting the general election.
