@dellavolpe, based on your best most recent polling or research you’d put stock into, what single issue do you think Democrats are most vulnerable on going into 2020? Immigration, Socialism, or something else?

Makes sense. Definitely moreso meaning the perception, despite the reality. So if Democrats have one major rhetorical task it would be making their policies feel quintessentially American vs. like a socialist overhaul.

Any quickfire thoughts on pathways to that? Buttigieg’s framing of “freedom to” vs. “freedom from” has been pretty good. I think some Roosevelt New Deal language use has been strong too but that measure created a lot of jobs. New economy isn’t headed there. Tough to sell that.

Needs to be some way to undo the notion of handouts. General expansion of the social safety net that doesn’t feel alienating. Also, thanks for the answer!
