It is a sad thing for those of us who dedicated years to the Civil Rights Division, to see the Division affirmatively fight to disenfranchise people. That is not what it stood for when I was there.

I am so sorry that alongside the vaster betrayal of American voters (along racist and other bigoted lines), there is also a betrayal of public servants who devoted their years to their agencies' actual missions to end those injustices. :-(

If you have read "Democracy in Chains", then it is clear that voter suppression has been a GOP method for several decades. Trump's new GOP will institutionalize the process with increasing vehemence. I bet that they are even trying to figure out a way to implement a poll tax.
