    Media pundits finger-waggin' abt the transit workers who'd have to clean up OMNY machines aren't likely to be as outraged abt the fine that these workers – immigrant vendors – will have to pay because Broken Windows is "order" for them. Couple of sharpie markers: "disorder."

    While NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio & local NYC media help NYPD demonize protesters, the NYPD just continues to target poor/working class Black & Brown people in the subway for tickets/arrests (thus proving the point of the protest in the first place!).

    Note that this doesn't only serve to make arrests, but also to influence the public into condemning the protests. Authoritarians and media working together – there's a name for that, I think.

    Basically what's happening in NYC regarding the march. Mayor Bill de Blasio & local NYC media are much more concerned about naughty words & graffiti than they are about racist policing, police brutality, & the criminalization of poverty.

    We are a country where if someone says “get fucking rid of these baby jails” the discourse will be way more bent about the fact that someone said “fucking” than the fact we have baby jails
