An oblique reference to Joseph Stalin in a code sample was not what I was expecting when I started reading the documentation for a templating engine.

Limiting their employee pool to people ideologically committed to Parlerโ€™s bizarre anti-social mission is going to be a tough sell, and difficult to scale. The firm is likely to need technical and infrastructure help from outside to survive, as its weird revenue model is nascent.

Please please please please EVERYONE stop using non-standard characters in tweets. What you think is cute and clever typography is inaccessible to people who use screen readers, which read each letter out loud one at a time with the full ASCII code.

I saw a post on LinkedIn that recommended adding an emoji at the beginning of your name because you could see who was using some sort of automation tool to send out connection requests. I can now confirm it works.

If you can educate people around you on tech, please do. Start from the fundamentals. Everything we see is incrementally built and none of the components are complicated if you get deep enough. Itโ€™s just hard to decompile complex systems, especially if... itโ€™s magic.

I have a front end developer joke, it's only one line of text but you'll need to download several megabytes of JavaScript to get it.

I particularly enjoyed this bit of the Python Requests documentation: "If the remote server is very slow, you can tell Requests to wait forever for a response, by passing `None` as a timeout value and then retrieving a cup of coffee." Presumably the latter via HTCPCP/1.0.

For the right applications WordPress has a lot of potential but often I find there's too much - probably unconscious - prioritization of site creators over users baked into the ecosystem and that can be hard to fight against.
