I see how much time and effort we all put into threads and replies on other topics and guess what, there's a lot of men's voices taking up space in those converstaions. But now you're silent? You feel like you don't have an oar in this water?
A lot of "I fear for the future of my discipline!" subtweets whenever anyone dares suggest that language requirements might be classist, but this doesn't scare you for our field? The fact that it's 2021 and women are still being retaliated against for reporting harassment?
Vulnerable people see that we collectively have the ability to stand up & speak out, use our platforms to get op-eds published, rally folks for petitions & letters of support, but that those energies won't show up for you when you are being bullied, harassed, retaliated against.
