      1) Initial thoughts regarding the 2019 #ALAYMA books and awards. Blackall's book is drenched in nostalgia for a time that has passed. It reminds me of a certain slogan about making America great again.

      2) Based on things Blackall said, I think her lighthouse is the one on Quirpon Island -- Newfoundland, which was Beothuk lands. Some books evoke, in me, a sense of erasure and colonization. Not sure what the trigger is, but it is definitely in that book.

      3) Gaiman. I can't not hear his name and think back to that time when someone asked him why he didn't set his graveyard book in America, and his answer showed his ignorance. "A few dead Indians" is part of his answer. https://newsok.com/article/3316120/the-graveyard-book-vampire-werewolf-and-witch-raise-orphaned-boy-in-cemetery?custom_click=lead_story_title …pic.twitter.com/XMFqHJS0FV

          4) I did a blog post on it, and Gaiman replied, there, and wrote about it later on his own blog. …https://americanindiansinchildrensliterature.blogspot.com/2010/04/what-neil-gaiman-said.html …
