    Finished ’s non-fiction novella. Thorough, necessarily painful. A reminder not to lose track of the dozens of side stories that helped, for better or worse, shape America’s 2020. Also a study in how to write a unique story about a topic readers know too well.

    NYS health department denied two of my records requests like so: “officials are not required to search through the haystack for a needle, even if they know or surmise that the needle may be there.” This is standard language but that doesn’t make it any less annoying.
