Deafinitely Girly

An elderly man just tipped his hat at me as I walked past him and smiled.

We took her for a restorative hot chocolate and waited. Fourteen hours after we waved him off, my father walked into the cafe. And that kids, is why you should always have snow tyres and spare snow chains.

At that moment my father was heading down the hill to find us. We’d passed each other on the only stretch of road where it was split by buildings. The hours ticked by and my mother was not happy. She wrongly identified a German Shepherd as my father.

Before tearfully going into the police station and telling them in school-standard French that she had lost her husband. ‘How old is your husband?’ the policeman asked before telling her it was unusual to lose men in their 40s.

At 6am people started to pass us so we dug out the car and set off up the hill, without my dad. It was the eighties. Mobiles didn’t exist really. My mum was panicking about where he was. She wrongly identified a salt bin and a black rubbish sack as my father

In the end our snow chains gave out and a couple who my mum had helped offered to give my dad a lift up the mountain to get more chains. That was about 2am. At 4am we woke to hear snow crashing onto the roof of our car as it tumbled down the hillside.

In order to keep the car moving, my dad drove it and my mum and aunt pushed it until it got grip, my brother was in the back with me leaning forward and holding the passenger door open. We’d get going and everyone would leap in. We did this many times

It’s the most cold I’ve ever been. My mum - ever the practical one - was helping other people who were stuck to put snow chains on. She fixed ours multiple times with all of our shoelaces

The first time I ever came here I was about 10. We drove in horrific weather and while the other mountain roads were shut, ours stayed open. We got stuck and ended up spending the night in the car on the mountainside.

We are on are way to the mountains and just about to get high enough for the rain to turn to sleet and then snow. So excited to show FFB one of my favourite places ever

Just back from a 10km walk in the rain... enforced nap time for someone!! And are two huge cookies. Oh the diet is going well

Wow, just checked the ‘proof we were at your house’ photo and it’s not from today as it was pouring with rain and in the photo it’s dry. Am shocked @DPD_UK

Beyond furious with @DPD_UK - waited by the front door buzzer for my one hour slot delivery and the driver took a photo of my front door but didn’t ring the buzzer. So it’s a failed delivery! Why? Why would you do that?

FFB has decided that from 4am til 5am it’s party time in our house. Gotta admire his cheekiness though... he yells like all hell is breaking loose until you look at him and then he gives you a huge grin which is just so cute. I will never be Gina Ford! And quite glad about it
