In general this is a pretty bad idea.https://newrepublic.com/article/152811/left-taking-aim-pelosis-deficit-obsession …
Progressive Dems have two years to explain why paygo is a bad idea; this won't matter much unless there's a Dem in the WH in 2021. Remember, Pelosi needs a 2/3 vote of the caucus in 2021 to stay as leader, so there will be a little leverage.
Well, there's also this, preceding the paygo rule: "Removing Supermajority Vote. Subsection (dd) removes the requirement that the House agree by at least a 3/5 supermajority in order to raise revenue through additional Federal income taxes."
Yes, I wrote about that when progressives secured ithttps://theintercept.com/2018/12/11/house-of-representatives-progressive-caucus/ …
Thank you!
I gather Dems against PayGo will have to vote against the whole rules package now if they want to get PayGo removed. Any reason they shouldn’t do this?
Paygo as a policy isn't going to matter much in 19-20, there are other advances in the rules, and in two years progressives can use leverage over Pelosi to get it out.
We really don’t have two years to wait.
The GOP have thrust a lot of people into poverty, stealing from the poor to give to the uber-rich.

can they just add to each bill that the cost comes out of the defense budget? How did they do the bailout?pic.twitter.com/eTNJRZyqOp
"emergency"
m4a wouldn't cost anything, but expanded social security is an emergency. Some people get under $400 a month.
Well the republicans raided social security to pay for Iraq & Afghanistan & the Dems seemingly didn’t fight very if at all at the time hard to stop it, so I’ll let you guess 1 place they’ll go to get the money...unfortunately...

Peasants do hard work all their lives. The choice will come down to telling a minion to get on the computer and put pin money in their bank accounts at the churchmouse credit union, or having them come to the castle at midnight with the torches and pitchforks.pic.twitter.com/6f7OXWynPY
So if I have this right: House Dems announce a bunch of bad rules changes/stifling of prog priorities Reporting on these issues and public pressure spurs "reversal" from House leadership House Dems do a bunch of bad rules changes/stifling of prog priorities anyway
The Democrats are preferable to the GOP in the same way a punch to the gut is better than a kick in the balls. However, this sort of thing doesn't make me want to line up to pull the "Get punched in the Gut" lever. I feel like I'm being held hostage.
I remember when Democrats weren't Republicans
Do you? You're in Ohio.
Well, a couple Democrats.
