Due to inclement weather conditions, DCPS schools are closed on March 21. Students and teachers do not need to report to school. However, all essential personnel must report on time. Central Office employees should continue to monitor the media for DC Government decision.

On this day, we remember six members of the DCPS family we lost 21 years ago: students Asia Cottom, Bernard Brown, and Rodney Dickens, and teachers Hilda Taylor, James Debeuneure, and Sarah Clark.

Starting Wednesday, March 16 -- and consistent with the latest health guidance and the current low levels in DC -- masks will be optional for students, staff, and visitors in DC Public Schools, DCPS offices, and on OSSE-DOT transportation.

Due to anticipated winter weather, DCPS evening activities will be cancelled today, Tuesday, January 29. DCPS aftercare programs are not cancelled, but parents and guardians are encouraged to pick up students as early as possible.

Due to air quality concerns, has canceled all outdoor activities at our schools today. This includes recess, outdoor Physical Education classes, athletic practices and competitions, and any school-specific events or field trips intended for the outdoors.

DCPS’ distance learning materials are designed to meet the needs of all students. Students are expected to complete their distance learning assignments and check in with teachers during virtual office hours, but they will not be penalized if schoolwork is not completed.

Tomorrow - 3/9 - School Without Walls High School will be closed. DCPS is conducting a deep cleaning and disinfecting of the building following an employee being exposed to COVID-19. Test results were negative, and there is no immediate risk to students and staff. cc:
