        1) Britain currently has a conservative government hell bent on wrecking public health care 2) Almost every developed nation has a substantial public health safety net ... except for the USA.

Um, I live in a single payer system. Serious injury and illness... dealt with almost immediately no matter what your insurance level. Those who can afford and want private cover can still buy it for the non life threatening stuff. Stubborn ideology is killing people.

We don't have VAT. We do have a public health insurance levy that everyone pays above a certain income. I'm happy to. Our elderly neighbor had a heart attack with a major artery blockage 2 weeks before Christmas. She was home for Christmas. No out of pocket expense.

What's that got to do with where I live? Almost every developed nation has nationalized healthcare. USA is the stand out exception. Continue on though. It's working great: https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/personalfinance/2017/05/05/this-is-the-no-1-reason-americans-file-for-bankruptcy/101148136/ …

I work in the health sector. Have for 20 years. Every second conference I attend, the USA is held up as an example of how not to do health care.

Sure, go with full private where they gouge your insurer for unnecessary crap for profit..... I live in a single payer system. Has been like it for decades. It's not what you think.....
