I understood what he meant wrt to dealing with two illnesses at one time. Think of it as a math problem. Right now, COVID = 1.5. In the fall, COVID will = 0.75, but flu will = 1.0. That’s 1.75, so even though we have half COVID, we have a bigger problem.

If one compares 2 sets of events, and determines that one of the two will be more difficult and complicated, is that better...or worse?

Clearly in context of a pandemic that kills people, "worse" would be if "more" people died in a coronavirus & flu scenario. It could be more difficult to deal with the diseases at once, but he's not predicting that it'll be worse in terms of the approp measure, which is deaths.
