An emergency room doc lost custody of her four year old because she's working to save lives during a pandemic. Huh??https://washex.am/2ySAOGU

There has to be more to this story! No judge would rule against her. Probably just a temp order. OR She was an awful parent before the Chinese Virus hit us,.

I'm SICKENED by the father's exploitation of the pandemic and disappointed with the judge who could not see beyond her own fear in this matter. Even if Dr. Mom worked 6 days/week, she could be granted 1 night with her only child, given proper infection control procedures in place

I'm sickened by Dr. Mom's lack of concern for her child's welfare by repeatedly putting the child at a high risk of exposure in the hospital day care, along with her own long hours and heightened risk of exposure, and forcing dad to get a court order to protect a 4 year old!

Thanks for sharing. This is an interesting bioethical conversation. If anyone is a bioethicist I’d be interested to hear potential arguments for and against actions like this. I’m going to use this article for the next “Bioethics in the News” assignment.

It's a temporary order, specifically for the virus outbreak and the health and welfare of the child! The ONLY injustice here is that dad had to go to court because doctor mom wouldn't put the best interests of her child and a higntened risk of exposure ahead of her own interests!

It is a reasonable decision to say that while she is working 60 hours a week in a pandemic e.r., her child stays out of harm's way with her father until the crisis passes.
