In the 17 yrs we've been there we've yet to significantly change the mind set of Iraq regarding our presence. Yes we do have some support that's true, but its a quagmire we've not yet solved. All's not perfect there, nor likely will it be if we stay. Time to reassess game plan.

The question is our presence the inhibitor to Iranian hegemony we seem to believe it is, or are we acting as the poultice for the region drawing the animosity that would normally exist between the factions who live there? Perhaps our leaving would deepen distrust towards Iran?
