My prediction: Trump claims executive privilege, it goes to SCOTUS, he loses,
@AmbJohnBolton testifies that nothing happened, the MSM gets it wrong, again. -
It's all a show. Theatre. Trump will be reelected and serve out his terms. They want clicks, Trump is the best thing to happen to these news outlets, his name is $
to them.

I agree. Any President should have freedom to consult his/her advisors without public eavesdropping and critiquing. If the courts find otherwise as they did with Obama and Clinton...so be it.
-
I agree. But if the President is doing something illegal they should not only be allowed to testify about it but REQUIRED to disclose it. It's clearly best for the long-term health of our government.

If the Senate wants to press the issue, they can appeal to the Supreme Court to render a ruling. Executive privilege can be nulled by a SCOTUS Order for Compelling witnesses, in an impeachment trial. A path Pelosi seemed unwilling to take.
-
Waiting for it to get through the courts to SCOTUS could have gone past the next election, which he was impeached for trying to steal.
